The Unit of Equal Access for Persons with Disabilities and Persons with Special Educational Needs has as its mission the assurance of the full participation of all members of the university community, in all educational, research and administrative activities carried out by the I.H.U.
In particular, the responsibilities of the Unit are:
- The implementation of the equal access plan of I.H.U.
- The support of the Equal Access Committee.
- The monitoring of national and European legislation and of the strategy for the rights of persons with disabilities.
- The support of access to the educational process, in particular with appropriate accessible literature, educational material and interpretation.
- The support of alternative methods of examination of students with disabilities and special educational needs, according to their needs and educational possibilities.
- The provision of individual assistive IT technologies and the facilitation of online accessibility.
- The support of disabled people and people with special educational needs in their participation in research, in projects/programs carried out through the Special Research Funds Account (SRA), conferences and workshops, meetings of bodies, student assemblies, artistic and sports activities.
- Ensuring electronic communication to resolve administrative issues of disabled persons and persons with special educational needs.
- Ensuring and facilitating the physical access of people with disabilities, in particular by providing a transport and escort service.
- The psycho-emotional support and guidance of people with disabilities and people with special educational needs, in collaboration with the Center for Psychological and Counseling Support.
- Cooperation with the Education Advisors to support students with disabilities and special educational needs.
- Keeping statistics related to disability and the accessibility of the Foundation’s infrastructure and services.
Committee for Equal Access of Persons with Disabilities and Persons with Special Educational Needs
By decision of the Board of Administration was established the Equal Access Committee of the International University of Greece.
The committee is an advisory body of the Foundation and has the task of submitting recommendations to the competent bodies for the drafting and implementation of the Policy of Equal Access for Persons with Disabilities and Persons with Special Educational Needs.
The current composition of the Commission is:

- Kossyvaki Lila-Aglaia, Assistant Professor of the Department of Early Childhood Education and Care, School of Social Sciences.
- Kavkia Theodora, Associate Professor of the Department of Nursing, School of Health Sciences.
- Skoufas Georgios, Professor of the Department of Management of Marketing and Tourism Organizations, School of Economics and Management.
- Irini Aivazidou, Assistant Professor of the Department of Production and Management Engineering, School of Engineering.
- Georgios Kountios, Assistant Professor of the Department of Agriculture, School of Geotechnical Sciences, Coordinator of the activities of the Teaching and Learning Support Center, International University of Greece.
- Kalliopi Kazaki, deputy Head of the Equal Access Unit for Persons with Disabilities and Persons with Special Educational Needs, of the Independent Central Administration Support Directorate.
- Ioannis Maraslidis, deputy Senior Head of the General Directorate of Technical and Digital Services and Infrastructure.
